4Koss KSC75 Portable Headphones  Nov 23, 2009
I have been using these headphones for almost three months. I use them to listen to TV while exercising on a treadmill and they work well for my purpose, and are very comfortable. Be careful pulling on the behind-the-ear clips, as they separate easily from the earphones. I panicked when I thought I'd broken one the first week, but they can easily be reattached. Don't be concerned about my sound quality and ease of use ratings, considering their price. Amazon had them priced less than half the retail price, which is a great value. My only suggestion to Koss is to make the headphones cable about a foot longer, for people who want to use them for an activity some distance from the sound source. Near full size headphone sound in a portable package! The sound quality of these headphones is much closer to that of my full size audiophile grade Grado SR225's and Sennheiser HD600's than that of the stock ear buds that come with most portable media players. Very neutral from top to bottom. Solid, but not over-exaggerated bass. Bass freaks may feel they are a bit lean sounding. Smooth highs that only become a little harsh and etched at very high volume (higher than most people would regularly listen). Excellent mid range detail. Good soundstage.

They are also exceptionally comfortable. I wear them for up to 5 hours at a time with virtually no discomfort (less discomfort than the average pair of glasses worn for several hours). Much more comfortable than any other on ear phone I have worn, including my Grado's. They also stay put without feeling tight. I've never had them pop off my ears even though I'm quite active while wearing them.
They are just a little tricky to get on and off quickly, though I don't find this to be major problem.

The build quality is reasonable for a product at this price point. It's actually better than I expected. They are a little larger than you might expect, and kind of stick out from your head a bit, but again, it doesn't bother me at all. I'm more interested in how this type of product performs than how it looks.

It might have been nice for a small case or pouch to be included for safer transport, but a large eyeglass case or camera case can work nicely in this capacity.

Overall, highly, highly recommended as an inexpensive portable headphone and a replacement to stock ear buds. Heck, with a stereo adapter plug and an extension cable, these would even be a great cheap backup to your primary cans.

Superb value product!!!

1Good while it lasts  Nov 16, 2009
I bought these just a couple of months ago to go with an MP3 player I bought for work. I decided on these head phones because I cannot wear those little ear buds. Well, these head phones were wonderful, however they did not last. I work in an office, I don't move around, I sit at my desk, one side has already quit working. Now I am just waiting on the other side to quit also. Very disappointed in this product. I expected a better quality.

4Depends what you need them for  Nov 16, 2009
I went into this headphone purchase with a lot of reviews read about them. Perhaps if I hadn't read so many, I wouldn't have thought of it as finding some sort of Holy Grail of portable headphones, and I think that's where I'm most disappointed. These headphones are not, in fact, some sort of holy artifact, quested for by a gallant league of knights.

They are, in fact, headphones.

While we're on the subject of these headphones, I might as well talk about them. They produce noise. Some might say they do so better than most... I do notice some difference. You can definitely hear the lower end coming through more clearly in the mix. However, I've found that the bass does not have enough power to really "thump" which is something I would have liked. You'll get your low end, and it will be more audible, but if you were planning on using these to power your new nightclub, or to mix the low end in your new studio, I would recommend against it (and probably laugh at you behind your back). Besides this the headphones do what they're told audio wise, and they can put out some serious noise. With proper EQing (or more power), they could probably do something crazy. I use that for music, you might have some weirder ideas.

So, what else needs to be touched on? I'm a fan of the design, to a point... I really like that there is no band connecting the two earpieces, as I can now lie back in comfort whilst enjoying my music (perhaps while sipping some sort of iced beverage), and the little earhooks are actually not uncomfortable. My only real gripe? There isn't a band connecting the two earpieces. Yes, I'm serious. There's an upside and downside to every "new" idea, and this one can still feel a bit awkward at times. I do miss taking my headphones off with one hand, if awkwardly, in one fell swoop. I miss not having to fiddle with the earpieces to make sure they're positioned properly, even if that process takes only a couple of seconds. And I miss the way we used to talk. You know? Like, REALLY talk.

That said, all bets were off anyway when I heard these babies have a lifetime guarantee. Sure, that could be shameless covering for a shoddy product, but mine has held up very nicely in the short-ish time I've had it (about a month and a half). I've heard the process isn't half bad, either. Not owning many products with such a convenient guarantee, I'm pleased that at least one of them can be something I use daily.

So that's all! Get yourself a pair of these if you need something that won't let you down, and don't mind using casually. You'll probably be the people with a more expensive pair as well, but need something for the day-to-day grind. I hope you found this helpful/informative/enjoyable.

You don't have to go home, but you can't stay here. Because this is a post on the internet, and as such, has no floors.

2Cheap and good but utterly unreliable  Nov 16, 2009
I've owned four pairs of these over the years. My cat chewed through the cord of the first one, and since they're so cheap I decided to buy another pair. In the second pair, the sound went dead in the left ear after a month or so. I figured maybe the cat had been at that one, too, although I couldn't see any bite marks, so like a fool I bought a third pair, a fourth for my girlfriend as well. These we were very careful to store away from any felines, and both had the same problem within a month.

For the price, sure, these sound fine and are perfectly comfortable. But considering that in my (admittedly anecdotal) experience they have a 75% failure rate within the first month or two, well, how cheap does it have to be before having to buy a new pair every time they break catches up to you?
