5Really nice  Nov 04, 2009
I love these earphones. Rich gorgeous sound and comfortable fit. I agree with reviewer that suggests boosting treble.
These are the first earphones I've owned that stay in my ears. Very very nice. Well worth it.

4Pretty Darn Good ... but not for everyone  Nov 02, 2009
As some background: I own the BOSE around the ear Tri Port phones and a pair of Ultimate Ears SuperFi 5 Pro's. I really like the UE's but in general they are hard to get into my small ears and are not comfortable for long periods of use - this became painfully apparent to me after an overseas trip last month. The Tri Ports are great but are a little bulky for everyday use.

I purchased these phones with some hesitation because of all of the reviews about them falling out and being heavy on the bass. I wasn't sure I wanted to spend more money on yet another pair of phones that wouldn't quite meet all of my needs ... but I am glad I did. I did some extensive testing with the music collection on my iPod Classic. I threw everything from Akon to Diana Krall at them and here is where I came out:

1. Rich sound across all ranges of music (but have a little more bass than most people prefer)
2. Sound best when using the Treble Booster EQ setting and letting the phones handle the bass
3. Had little problem with the buds falling out of my ears. The medium sized buds a near perfect. In fact, I barely know I am wearing them after awhile (I think this is what BOSE had in mind the whole time)
4. Price point: At 99$ not a big deal for me as I have already invested other earphones
5. Overall value - these are the sweet spot for the price. Good sound quality, compact, and did not break my check book.

Some cons:

1. I can see the ear buds wearing out over time but when you buy these you can register and get free extras - Don't forget!!
2. BOSE sound not for everyone. It works for me and that's all that matters. Let your ears be the judge.
3. No noise cancelling but that is clearly documented everywhere.

Wants:

1. An in ear noise cancelling version of these with the same comfort level - get it done BOSE!!

Overall, I am pleased with my purchase. As an avid listener of music I think I have finally found the best co-pilot for my music collection. Bus rides have turned into private concerts that I don't want to end!

1Buy this only if you are a money waister!!!  Oct 27, 2009
I payed 80 £ and used them everyday, The sound was ok but is not that special, they used to fall from my ears, the worst part was that after 3 months of use one of the earphones stopped working, so I got myself a pair of Griffin earphones that only cost 10$ I am sure they will last much longer!!!! BOSE you suck!!!! BOSE offered to me the highest price and the lowest quality thank you very much.

1utter dissapointment  Oct 26, 2009
Firstly, I am not new to Bose products. I have been an owner of the Acoustic Wave for 13 years and I have experienced some OEM car installations as well.
Now, my Acoustic Wave stopped playing CDs about 5 years ago, I use it to amplify my portable XM receiver. The Bose car stereos I've heard were mediocre at best (comparatively speaking.

Secondly, I have a pair of $140 cordless Sennheiser cans for TV listening and they are good.( thanks Amazon)

So, I needed a pair of good quality in-ear headphones for listening to audio on my computer ( with hi-fi sound card) and seldomly to my Zune while tread milling.

I was put off by the price of these Bose phones for a long time, but eventually my curiosity took over and I plunged a hundred smackers into it.
What a garbage!. The ear-fitting system is most likely the worst one can come up with. None of the inserts can comfortably fit into my ears, and that's the first time I have had this problem and I am 37,- I've had plenty of phones in my lifetime. The sound quality is nowhere a 100 dollar level.

My recent purchase of headphones for Zune ( the OEM ones lasted less then a year)- was a pair of $20 Sonys from Le Target Boutique. So, simply comparing bits-to-bits I can say : Sony has clearer highs , very definitive mids and clear thumping lows. Bose has none of it. It cannot play the clearest of mp3s. The bass is non-existent, mids are watered down whiskey and highs are come-and-go.

I cannot imagine how Bose can survive in this market selling the over-priced mediocrity to people . What is Bose's business plan? To reach the highest levels of boredom and suckiness? How can an American engineer come to work day-in day-out and result in 17th century advanced audio technology? Are all people in Massachusetts like this? How can Sony ( or even microsoft) sell me for 20 dollars the product that is far more advanced then this garbage?

So, at first I was going to send the phones back to the seller (Amazon's affiliate), but rather then paying 15% restocking and dealing with customer service I am going to hold on to the phones and show it to everyone who comes through my house and let them see what kind of garbage they may encounter of Bose. Here I will have a counter-promotion to Bose's claims in advertisement. Let America know .

3design flaw on jack wire  Oct 19, 2009
I chose the Bose in ear headphones as an award at work. Sound quality is good & very comfortable fit. I like the fact that they don't completely cancel all sound. Can still hear the phone ring & answer someone speaking to me w/out pulling the ear piece out. They're gently used mainly while cooking or doing housework. No jogging & such.
After owning them for about 16 months, I noticed the sound in the right earpiece cutting out & finally no sound. The wire that goes into the jack/plug is causing the problem. Wiggle it just right & you have sound for a second. This seems to be an ongoing problem for this product. Many cheaper headphones have a flexible wire joint design at the plug. I expected a longer life for a Bose product & am truly disappointed. My replacement won't be Bose since so many people have experienced the same problem. BOSE, IF YOU'RE LISTENING....PLEASE FIX THIS PROBLEM!
